TAIT, Anna Kathryn –
Aged 93, in Picton ON
After a long life, well lived, Anna passed away on January 25th, 2023, in her 94th year.
Anna (Martin) was born June 24, 1929 in Montreal Quebec, the first child of the late Kenneth and Doris (Cooper) Martin. She attended Montreal High School, and then “The Mother House” secretarial college. She married Leslie Tait in 1952 and moved to Baie d’Urfe where they raised four children, a large black dog, and a huge vegetable garden. After 30 years in Baie d’Urfe, they retired to Picton, Ontario where they continued to indulge in their love of travel, their deep sense of civic duty, and especially Anna’s love of music. Anna and Les were also dedicated volunteers with PECMH Auxiliary.
Anna was passionate about music, having been active in many choirs, from childhood until her late 80s, most recently with the Command Performance Choir in Picton. She was a familiar face among the patrons of the Montreal and Toronto opera companies, various symphonies, and the Quinte Summer Music Festival.
Anna also loved to host family and guests, and was particularly proud of her beautiful home and gardens overlooking Picton Bay.
Anna was predeceased by her beloved husband Leslie (1995), her loving partner Craig Armstrong (2012), her brother Ken (1971), and granddaughter Gillian (2012). Anna will be sadly missed by sister Patricia Soyka (the late Steve), children Sheryl (Michael), Linda, Richard (Sherry), and Joanne (Ben), and grandchildren Marc, Kayleigh, and Genevieve.
If desired, donations to Hospice Prince Edward or Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation or Loyalist Humane Society would be appreciated by Anna's family. Arrangements entrusted to Rushnell Funeral Homes - Picton Chapel, 33 Main St., (613-476-2450). Online condolences and to share memories of Anna, please visit: www.rushnellfamilyservices.com
