Obituary for Beryl Ada Mary Astington (Ketley)

Beryl Ada Mary Astington passed away peacefully at home, in the loving care of her daughter, Lin, just days before her 102nd birthday.

Pre deceased by her husband Douglas Astington, dearest Mum of Andrew (Christine), Lin and Sue (the late Paul). Proud Nanny of many Grandchildren, great Grandchildren and one great great Grandson.

Beryl was born and raised in England and was, in every respect, a proper English lady. She was strong and fiercely independent and a much loved member of her family and community.

In May 2009, at the age of 88, Beryl had walked the equivalent of the distance from Newfoundland to British Columbia - 7393 km - with the Oshawa Senior Citizen's Centre.

In 2011 Beryl was the recipient of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal that was awarded for over 20 years of volunteer service to her community..
