Obituary for Betty Marie Martin (Caufield)

MARTIN, Betty Marie
March 9, 1939 - February 4, 2023
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Betty Marie Martin (Caufield) peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family. Betty will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion, caring and strength. She was born in Sault Ste. Marie and moved to Toronto to study at the Hospital for Sick Children. She met Gord through a classmate in 1958 and they were married in 1961. She had a long career as a pediatric nurse at Scarborough General Hospital and retired in 1999. She spent her retirement living in Brighton, where she volunteered at Proctor House Museum, The Barn Theatre and her HSC Alumni Association. Betty was the youngest of two children born to Milton and Maude Caulfield. She is predeceased by her brother Robert and her eldest son Ken. She will be missed by her husband Gord, son Mike and his wife Leona, son Tim and his husband Rob, and granddaughters Jessica and Bayley. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Hospice Quinte for all they did to make her last days comfortable. In lieu of flowers donations in Betty’s memory to the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids Foundation) or Hospice Quinte would be appreciated by the family. Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Rushnell Funeral Homes - Brighton Chapel, 130 Main Street, Brighton, Ontario (613-475-2121) on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of Service at 12:00 p.m., followed by a reception.
