Obituary for Christine Mary Verheyen (MacKinnon)

VERHEYEN, Christine (MacKinnon) Christine Mary Verheyen, in her 92 year, of Trenton, died Monday, January 30, 2023, at Quinte Hospice, Quinte West. Born in Beaver Cove, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, June 26, 1931, was the daughter of the late John A and Maria (MacNeil) MacKinnon. She was a retired custodian from Trenton High School. She was a member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary, CWL, and Ladies of Columbus. She was predeceased by her husband Matheus T, “Dutchie” Verheyen, son Matheus T, “Teddy” Verheyen, brothers, John Anthony, John Huey and a sister, Margaret and by fourth brother in infancy. She is survived by her children: Annemieke Loft (Jim), Bernadina Lavers (Jim), John (Kim), Chris (Patti), Neil A, Martina Hart (Lane) and Michael (Natasha). She is survived by her sisters Amelda, Ann and brother Jim of Cape Breton and brother Michael (Eileen) of Toronto. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Benny (Betty) and sister-in-law Nita and many nieces and nephews across the world including the Netherlands. The late Christine will have visitation Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Rushnell Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Trenton, ON. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Trenton with Father Tim Harrison officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Spring. Donations may be made to St. Peter's Church, Quinte Hospice or charity of your choice.
