Obituary for Jennifer Megan Blakely
BLAKELY, Jennifer Megan
November 8, 1977 – March 1, 2023
At the age of 45 Jennifer Blakely of Picton lost her valiantly fought battle with cancer and slipped away peacefully early Mar 1, 2023.
She was the beloved daughter of Steve and Joan Blakely (nee Kellar) of Picton. She was an outstanding mother to Katherine who was the center of her universe and the passion of her life.
She was the precious sister of Tracy Currie (David) of Atlanta, Georgia and aunt to her much loved nephews Stephen and James. Jennifer will be lovingly remembered by her grandmother Frances Kellar of Picton, her aunts and uncles, her numerous cousins and many friends from across Canada. Jen loved all her friends and cared intensely for them personally. She will be lovingly remembered by Katherine’s father, Brian Matsuda of Picton.
Jen enjoyed a very successful professional career and was an excellent leader, mentor, and coach with a passion to support everyone to be the best they could be. She cared deeply for her teams and colleagues and gave her full commitment to her employers. She loved her last career position with CARMA Corporation and held it as the best company and executive team she worked with in her career.
One of the brightest lights on the planet went out with her passing. We have many beautiful memories of her good days during the last five and a half months – and the other 44 plus years. Jen’s was a life full of love and laughter and she was always the life of the party - her presence lit up any room she walked into. We will forever miss her beautiful smile, her flaming red hair, her sense of humour and her infectious laugh. To know Jen was to love her – and love her we all do. The family extends their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, PSWs, and all medical staff of Kingston Health Sciences Centre, Quinte Health Care and Picton Hospital Emergency Room for their excellent care and support. We extend special thanks to Dr. Sarah Leblanc, nurses Amber and Jane for their amazing care, compassion and incredible support during Jennifer’s palliative care.
A Memorial Service will be held at Rushnell Funeral Homes – Picton Chapel, 33 Main Street (613-476-2450) Saturday, March 25th, 2023 at 12 noon with visitation starting at 10 am.
Following the service friends are invited and welcomed to attend a luncheon and visit with family from 1:15pm - 3:30pm at Centennial Hall, 12 Chapel Street, Picton. Spring Inurnment at Glenwood Cemetery, Picton. In lieu of flowers, donations to Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation “Back the Build” or Hospice Prince Edward in memory of Jennifer would be appreciated by the family.
